Great weather and turnout to honour Lady President, Pauline O Brien

The Lady President\'s Prize  was held on Sunday 25th July to honour this year\'s president, Pauline O Brien. Pauline has been a member in Callan for nearly 20 years and served as Lady Captain in 2004. There was a great turnout of nearly 100 ladies including the newly joined lady members who played in the competition in wonderful sunshine. That evening over 40 members played in the mixed competition. The presentation of prizes took place in the club house on Sunday evening followed by music and a most enjoyable eveing was had by all. In their addresses to the Lady President, the officers of the club, Captain Richard McMahon, lady Captain Mary Norton, President T.J Hogan and Hon Secretary Gerard Frayne, paid great tribute to Pauline and commended her on the tireless work and committment to the golf club during her 20 year tenure. Pauline has served on numerous committees and sub committees over the years, as well as being secretary in the ladies club. She has reprented the club in teams as manager, player and caddy. Pauline was hugely involved in the initial set up of the Joint management of the club during her time as Lady Captain , and continues in her current role as Lady President to work very hard on the club\'s behalf and is a wonderful ambassador for the golf club. She has given so much of her time selflessly to welcome and encourgage the new members and beginners. In her own response, Pauline thanked the club\'s officers for their support and encouragement during the past few months, she particularly thanked Barbara Kearney who had asked her to become this year\'s president. Pauline thanked all those with whom she has worked on committees with for their hard work and committment; She acknowledged and thanked the members who have volunteered their time to work on the course, ensuring that it continues to go from strength to strength in terms of its wonderful presentation and enjoyment. She thanked the kitchen and bar staff for a lovely meal and all of the ladies who played on Sunday and congratulated the prize winners. The memorable evening that followed included music,  some good stories about Pauline ( though all in good sport ), song and dance until the early hours.
