Mount Carmel Care Home classic: Last Friday 6th and Saturday 7th October we had the Mount Carmel Classic fundraiser. We had a terrific turnout with over seventy teams of four competing in the champagne scramble classic held over the two days. This is an incredibly deserving cause and the event run by volunteers who give so generously of their time and expertise to organize and run this competition. But one person in particular has made this event what it is and without Robert Woodcock this event would not be so well organized or run so smoothly. A great thanks to all of the sponsors who give so generously, as all of the prizes are sponsored by local and not so local business and surrounding Golf clubs. The weather was kind to us on the two days and the course was in superb condition and the scoring showed it with some great scores. Course condition update: Please remember that if you are good enough to make a pitch mark on those fabulous greens then, please be good enough to fix it properly or we will not have sublime greens! The course manager Pat Mulrooney, would like to remind ALL members to take and use a divot repair sand bag from the first tee and return same to the station at the 18th after your round. PLEASE do not return full or half full sand bags as this defeats the purpose. Use the remaining sand to fill any divots, not repaired, on the 17th and 18th please. Also, please refrain from bringing buggies onto the apron of greens as this can cause considerable damage.
