Presidents Shield
Callan Golf Clubs wonderful website was designed and built by JJ Murphy but he proved over the weekend that computers and websites are not JJ s only areas of experise. JJ produced an excellent back nine to capture Honorary President Murt Duggans Shield on Sunday last. JJ edged out Nicky Walsh who had 42 also but was denied by JJs finishing holes. There was an excellent turn out for the annual event and in the ladies category Teresa O Neill finished with a 37 point total and won her category. Nicky Morrisey who won the 2011 edition of this competition continued his good form by taking the mens gross prize while Rita O Neill won the ladies best gross. Well done to all who made this annual fixture such a success.
Club Classic
This year our annual Club Fundraising Classic takes place from Thursday the 23rd of August until Sunday the 26th of August. The 2012 edition sees the prizes bigger and better than ever.As well as the usual top quality golf equipment prizes for the team competition there is an opportunity to play in a Pro Am. Incorporated in the entry fee (100e for a team of 4) for the team competition there is an individual competition in which the top scores will result in 3 golfers going forward to play in a Pro Am this Autumn. There is also the intriguing opportunity to win a car during the Classic.
There will be a hole in one competition with the winner driving away in a brand new car worth 10,000e and a nearest the pin competition with the winner receiving 100e. The Club Classic is always a wonderful event thanks to your support. Please help make this years event a hugely successful one by bringing along a family member, a friend, a neighbour or a work colleague that you have meant to invite for a game and help promote our wonderful course.
The members of Callan Golf Club have always provided wonderful support and raised vital funding through our Club Classic and we are looking forward to hosting you all during these four days next month.
